REGIONAL EDUCATION

The Texas Chapter of AMTA is dedicated to bringing learning opportunities to all regions throughout the state. Through collaborative efforts between Chapter leadership and Regional Coordinators there are multiple chances for members, and non-members, to grow their skills in the profession.

This presentation will focus on increasing awareness around the unique needs of clients undergoing cancer treatment and how massage therapists can safely, confidently, and compassionately support them. We’ll explore common myths and fears, important considerations, and why oncology-informed massage is not only safe—but deeply impactful—when proper education and intention are applied.

Whether you are new to oncology massage or simply want to better understand how to hold space for clients affected by cancer, this talk will offer insight, perspective, and practical takeaways you can bring into your practice immediately.

Join the Heart of Texas Region for an engaging Meet & Greet exploring Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), commonly known as Tapping, and its role in supporting stress regulation, emotional wellness, and the mind-body connection.

We are excited to welcome Dr. John Baughman, Ph.D., Licensed Professional Counselor (Retired), who brings decades of experience in counseling, education, and wellness. Dr. Baughman has worked in private practice, college counseling, and graduate-level counselor education, and has more than 20 years of experience with EFT, Tapping, and Thought Field Therapy.

This small-group discussion is designed for wellness professionals who are interested in expanding their understanding of stress, emotional wellness, and mind-body approaches to care. Whether you are new to EFT or simply curious about how these techniques may support overall well-being, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn, connect, and engage in meaningful conversation with fellow professionals.

  • Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, Baylor University

  • Apply stretching and massage techniques targeted to specific muscles and functional groups.
